DESCRIPTION:The Chariot Fest\, formerly known as the Festival of India\, ha
 s taken place in Toronto for over half a century\, yet its rich history ac
 tually stems from thousands of years of tradition and heritage. The festiv
 al begins with a vibrant parade down Yonge Street in which three giant flo
 ats are hand-pulled by thousands of attendees and spectators amidst melodi
 ous singing\, chanting\, drumming\, and dancing.\nEveryone is invited to c
 ome\, walk\, chant\, sing or dance in the parade. Celebrations then contin
 ue throughout the weekend at Toronto Centre Island.\nFestivities @ Toronto
  Centre-Island\nJuly 11th\, 12pm - 8pm\nJuly 12th\, 11am - 5pm\nThe Toront
 o Island Ferry service is expected to be very crowded\, so we recommended 
 getting to Centre Island by taking our Chariot Fest Sponsor\, Pirate Taxi.
 \nThe Pirate Water Taxi dock is a short 10 minute walk from the end of Yon
 ge Street at Queens Quay West\, where the Parade ends. Volunteers will be 
 on hand to give you directions to the Pirate Taxi dock.\nTickets can be pu
 rchased on-line by clicking on Purchase Tickets on the top right side of t
 his page (recommended to save time at the dock)\, or right at the Pirate T
 axi dock when you arrive\, by debit\, credit or cash.\n
