Dock Staff
As a member of our dock team, you’re a vital part of the operation. You ensure guests have a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they board our boats.
Key attributes include:
- Punctuality: Being on time is a big part of how we stay reliable and professional.
- Greeting Customers: Always greet guests with a warm smile and friendly attitude. You’re the first impression of Pirate Taxi!
- Answering Questions: Be ready to answer common questions about Pirate Taxi services and the Toronto Islands. Visitors and tourists to Toronto may ask what there is to do on the Toronto Islands so make sure you are knowledgeable about the restaurants, children’s amusement park (Centerville), beaches, and what each of the 3 islands has to offer.
- Managing Lines: Keep queues organized, direct guests efficiently, and help ensure safe and orderly boarding and unloading.
- Taking Payment from Customers: On weekends and busy weekdays, you may be asked to collect money from customers before they board or when they return to our dock from the Island.
We are looking for people to work our docks who hustle, have great energy and enthusiasm, who are team players and who take initative!
No special education or certifications are required for dock staff and we will train you. Ideally, we are looking for people who have had customer facing experience in retail, hospitality or customer service –- but a great attitude showing potential always makes up for limited experience.
This is a seasonal, summer job starting in April (weather dependent) through October, but we are flexible according to your availability. This is an ideal student summer job. You must be able to read and write English and be legally able to work in Canada. Weekends are busiest so preference will be given to applicants who are available to work weekends, in addition to weekdays. A regular week is 40 hours, 5 of the 7 days.
