Ahoy Paddlers! We’re pleased to announce that Pirate Taxi is partnering with the TIDBRF again in 2025.
We’re really happy to bring your teams to the Island and excited to be part of the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival.
Here are a few details about your booking with Pirate Taxi.
Please have your TIDBRF email ready to present to the dock person taking payment to assure your special discounted fare – once you have your wrist-band, you can show that for coming back in the afternoon and on Sunday.
Please note, that the special discounted fare of $10 (+ GST) is offered to team members only; family, friends and spectators, of course, are welcome to come on our taxis with you but would pay the regular fare of $13 (+ GST)
You can pay by cash, debit or credit card when you arrive at the dock. To get you on board and on your way as quickly as possible, it would be the most efficient if one person can pay for the team, but individual payment is fine.
If you would like us to bring you back to the city later in the day, there’s no need to book – just come to the water taxi dock where we will drop you off, whenever you’re ready, and come on board. We’ll take your payment on our dock on the city side.
We know that the outcome of Saturday’s races will determine your departure time for Sunday, so if you would like us to bring you over on Sunday as well (many of you have already booked), please send an email to this id with the Sunday departure time, number in your group and which of our 2 docks you will be coming to, as soon as you know.
Please do your best to arrive on time or a few minutes early. With ferries offering limited service, it’s going to be very busy at our docks, especially 7:00 to 8:00, but we will have enough boats to take everyone and our water taxis only take 7-8 minutes to get to the island and will be racing back and forth all morning to get everyone there on time. It may seem chaotic but we’re used to big crowds and will get everyone on board and over the island efficiently.
There are several water taxi companies operating in Toronto Harbour so it may be confusing to find us, but we’re easy to identify – our boats look like mini pirate ships. Pirate Taxi is the only water taxi working with TIDBRF and offering the special discounted fare of $10 to paddlers.
If you’re unfamiliar with how to get to our docks, here are detailed instructions:
375 Queens Quay – HTO Park West
This dock is between Spadina and Rees Street beside HTO Park West. By TTC, eastbound, the stop is just before Spadina, walk east, past Spadina and cross the street when you reach Shoppers Drug Mart. Westbount, the stop is just east of Spadina, walk east and cross at the Shoppers Drug Mart. You’ll see a big, red fire boat across from our docks. There is plenty of parking at Queens Quay and Rees.
235 Queens Quay – Harbourfront Center
Our Harbourfront dock is on the boardwalk, right by the water, just west of York Street. We’re right beside the big, black sailboat called Kajama. By TTC, eastbound and westbound, the stops are right beside the Harbourfront Terminal Building (with Farm Boy on the corner). Walk between the Terminal Building and the Power Plant until you reach the water and turn right and you’ll see us.There is parking in the condos across from the Terminal Building.
